The FC Lubbock COMETS 96 Girls Soccer team took 1st place in the State Games of America National Tournament this past weekend (07/31/09 - 08/02/09) in Colorado Springs, Colorado and brought home the Big Gold!

The girls competed valiantly as they faced opponents in the age range of 14 to 17 year olds, of teams from U-14 to Varsity High School divisions.

Starting out with an early morning fog and a freshly cut plush green soccer field at the Air Force Academy Traing Facility, the first opponent the COMETS faced was a High School Varsity squad named FOUNTAIN of Fort Carson, Colorado.

The FC Lubbock COMETS 96 Girls Soccer team enters the realm of Nationals once again, this time in outdoor soccer.

Back in November of 2008, COMETS 96 entered and won the first place cup at The TAAF Winter Games of Texas held at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco Texas. The Winter Games of Texas is the ultimate amateur athletic sports festival for Texas' many amateur athletes. Established in 1986 as the Summer Games, the Games are patterned after the Olympic Games and U.S. Olympic Sports Festivals.

Medalists (top three) from each division now have the opportunity to compete in the NATIONAL STATE GAMES OF AMERICA in Colorado Springs, CO  beginning on July 30, 2009. The NSGA tournament is the premier, national multi-sport event for athletes of all ages and abilities.  Medal winners from 37 State Games earn the right to compete and match their skills in America's largest national sports festival.  GOOD LUCK LADIES!

Tis the season.  The Lubbock Winter Indoor Season that is!  The Winter Session is fast approaching and several FC Lubbock Comets are participating in many divisions.  In addition FC Lubbock Comets is forming a "Club League"  open to any palyer U10-U14 girls or boys.  Invite a friend and contact your coach for more information.

The summer indoor soccer league has begun and several FC Lubbock Comets are participating in many divisions.  Come out and support your fellow teammates and coaches.

On behalf of the FC Lubbock Comets 96's we would like to welcome FC Lubbock's newest teams; Comets 97 and Comets 99.  Also we would like to welcome the newest additions to the Comets 96.
