SCU President's Message

A Special Message from Marcel Bos, President

Santa Clarita United Soccer Club

Reflection of 2008 Season

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank the parents, players, coaching staff, & the board volunteers for a successful and hopefully enjoyable soccer season. We started the season off with a significant financial hurdle that I'm happy to report is now behind us greatly due to better fiscal management and the direct efforts of our volunteer treasurer, Rick Collins. He has provided the board with the monthly breakdowns of our expenses and income and has worked very diligently to transfer all SCU accounts to a centralized accounting framework so we can remain in compliance with the tax regulations to maintain our 501-C3 non profit status. Thank you Rick for all your hard work!

A personal thank you also to the Uythoven's for supporting and organizing our 2008 fund raising efforts and Deena for managing our much improved website.

From a soccer perspective, SCU did very well with the highest winning percentage & level of play (premier vs bronze teams) than any the other local club in the Santa Clarita Valley. . Four teams finished first or second in their respective divisions, which will make them eligible for promotion to the next level. Congratulations to the girl's U18 Gold team for finishing undefeated, which means SCU will have two premier teams next season (U17 & U19). Congratulations to Courtney Proctor for making the G-U15 US National Team. Clearly our long-term objective of improving the competitive quality of the club due to the technical training our players are receiving from Technical Director, Clint Greenwood and the professional coaching staff is starting to pay dividends.

In order to position ourselves for stronger growth heading into the 2009/2010 season, we've appointed David Vaudreuil as our new Club Administrative Director with the responsibility of recruiting and strategic planning. We launched our first recreational youth clinic this month with approximately 50 kids attending. It is our goal to combine the operational skills of David Vaudreuil with the technical skills of Clint Greenwood and his proven "Greenwood Method" of training to provide our kids with the best competitive soccer experience.

I wish everyone a Happy & Safe Holiday Season!

SCU Keeper Training Clinics

A message from Andy Pringle:

Great News!!! Goalkeeper Training will return to SCU beginning in January.

I will be running the Goalkeeper clinics beginning Jan. 6th.   This is something that I feel is extremely important, having been a goalkeeper myself.  I will be working hard to put a program in place that will be very beneficial to both our keepers and their teams. I look forward to working with our keepers at the following times:

Youngers (U9-U12). Tuesday 5-6pm, Central Park field #1.

Olders (U13-U19). Thursday 5-6pm, Central Park field #1.

It is critical that we adhere to the age groups provided in order to maximize the educational and production opportunities for all. Thank you all for your understanding.

If you should have any questions, please contact:  Andy Pringle at (714) 745 9259.
